The Uniter was a UUCUC newsletter published sometimes weekly, sometimes monthly. Here are announcements from various 1970s issues.
“CHANNING-MURRAY FOUNDATION CHANGES – The Red Herring at the Channing-Murray Foundation will close March 17, 1974 at the beginning of Spring vacation. While the Foundation will continue to operate some programs that it has commitments to, the Red Herring will not re-open until the Governing Board of the Foundation makes a determination of the usefulness of the activities which has been the focus of programs in recent years. Rev. Ed Harris said, ‘We will be reviewing our entire building policy, programs and priorities. We have been in a rut with C-M program. What’s important is not how long you are open but what happens when you are.’” March 3, 1974
“APPRECIATION AND THANKS TO: David Gross,, Bob McFall, Jeanne Howard, Linda Knibbs, Donald Nelson, Harry Tiebout, Jeanne Rochford, Beth Burdick, and Loring Prosser, who with encouragement and counsel from Rev. Ed Harris, provided a stimulating and inspiring program of summer services.” August 22, 1976
“CAPITAL FUNDS DRIVE – As of Sunday evening, one week after the initiation of the Capital Funds Drive, the total amount pledged stood at $25, 952. We are nearing our goal of $30,000. Mr. Harlan Moore, a respected member of our church, has issued a Challenge to the rest of the congregation. Instead of making a pledge in the usual manner, he has stated that if the rest of the congregation would donate $30,000 he would donate another $10,000 making the total $40,000. One stipulation of the offer is that Mr. Moore will make his contribution based on actual gifts, not on pledges alone. If all the members of the church – but one – can raise $40,000 by donating $30,000, it seems like the chance of a lifetime. – George Triplett, Finance Committee Chairman.” May 8, 1977
